By now, you have probably figured out that a vital part of learning is reflecting on what you have done and where you have been. This "thinking about your thinking" creates opportunities to test out your thinking and your methods to see what worked and what needs improving.
In your comment, please respond to the following:
- What skills or techniques (annotation, time-saving researching techniques, using researching tools such as databases or the Internet) helped you research your topic and/or write your paper? How do you know these skills or techniques helped your project be more successful?
- What would you like to improve about your process for writing a research paper? Would you revise anything about the process?
- What did you learn about your topic as a result of this process? What did you learn about researching/writing as a part of completing this project?
1. Annotation and internet were the two techniques I used the most throughout this process. With today’s technology, the internet is pretty much used for anything. It was just a matter on limiting my research and key words to come up with the best information. As for annotation, I learned it trough school.
ReplyDelete2. I don’t think I need to revised much about the process I used through writing. All I really need to pay attention to is the spelling and maybe revised certain sentences to make them more affective.
3. Well I already thought about my topic a while ago. I have always wanted to speak out my mind about “the wrongs of recycling”., but never had the chance to do so. All I had to do was to focus on getting the right information, accurate numbers and arguments to contradict the recycling method used today. It is frustrating to see people blindly follow a fashion style just because the government says so. If we want the world to be a better place, people need to question things and verify the truth behind all of what is said. This is my goal throughout this process.

ReplyDelete1.)The skills and or techniques that I found that helped me research my topic but also write my paper are the time saving research techniques along with using the internet. I know that these techniques had helped my research paper become successful because the information that I found are full of facts and of information that answers my research question .
2.)I would improve on working on prewriting more and work on my organizational skills some more. I would revise on paying more attention to where I put my topic sentences and spelling.
3.)I have learned that we as humans are the main cause to global warming and still are because people do not like to recycle like we should unless it’s earth day which is one day a year even though people should act like it every day . I have learned from researching is even if you do not want to use so many different types of resources they all help our papers in the long run.
1) As most of my research was done on the internet, I found that annotating the articles I found on my research topic very helpful. First, i would type in topics that fit my research question, like cannabis in the medical field, or cannabis as biofuel, then skim the articles to see if they were useful to me, then printed them out to annotate them. This allowed me to save time during my research, by avoiding articles that wouldn't help me to answer my research question.
ReplyDelete2) I would have like to have done more research at the library, I feel books have more concrete facts and details when compared to internet articles.
3) I learned a lot about cannabis as a biofuel during my research, and also a lot about how it can help the environment as well.
I used the annotating and the databases as researching techniques. I know these were successful when doing my research because the databases would give good usable sources with good information and annotating help because I broke the material down and I could I understand the material better. Its not so much the process that needs to change, its keeping organized and not getting over whelmed. I learned alot from my topic. I learned that the drinking age in the U.S. was suppose to help control the problems affiliated with drinking but it has created the opposite. I learned that using time saving techniques, annotating, and databases are extremely helpful and can make writing a research paper less difficult

ReplyDelete1. I used techniques such as asking questions that I would come up when researching the topic for my paper. I made use of the internet to help me find information about the topic I was going to write about. I know these techniques helped my paper be successful because it helped me cut down on looking for sources and have more time on working on my paper.
2. I would like to improve how to come up with a good thesis statement or even a good research question to start looking for what I need to answer it. I think my way of asking questions for researching topics like this is too broad and needs to be brought down. I would revise my supporting details about my topic a little more.
3.What I learned about my topic from this process is that guns are really a major issue to homeowners and I can see why they wouldn't want to get rid of guns. I learned that using techniques and skills to help you find information when researching for topics can save you time and have more time to work on your paper.
1. I used Databases and the internet primarily for my research, and I belive that these helped my paper develop better ideas. With each article I gained a better understanding of the topic and would write better ideas for it.
ReplyDelete2. For this essay I really did not do a good prewrite and I think my essay may have suffered as a result. Next essay I improve my prewriting process by adding more details and using it to better my essay.
3. I learned that gun control is a very complex topic and nearly everyone has an opinion, and it seems it is hard to agree on one solution. I also learned that doing a research paper takes a lot of time, with all the actual research involved and sorting that all out.
1) For my research I used the internet and annotation mostly for this paper. Annotation really helped because I learned how to use it right by making sure I looked up words that I didn't understand and when I did find out what the word meant it helped extend my paper and research further. The internet is where I found most of my papers information but I also used my knowledge I have on the topic.
ReplyDelete2) I think the thesis statement was the hardest thing I had to deal with at first but after talking to you about it, it was a lot easier to complete this paper.
3) To be honest I really did know a lot about my topic so its hard to say how much I learned from my research but I think that made the actual writing process easier for me. Even though I feel like I knew a lot about the topic I still had to do research and that’s how I got my main points I wanted to make in my paper.

ReplyDelete1) The skills and techniques that helped make my paper successful were the internet databases such as CQ Researcher, and Gale Opposing Viewpoints, as well as the inside-out drafting technique. I used the databases to quickly find just what I needed, in a reliable source.
2)An improvement that I need to make in future research related papers is annotation. To be honest, I started annotating a couple sources, then got lazy. The two sources that I annotated, I didn't even use. This made it more difficult to pre-write.
3)I learned a lot about global warming through writing this research paper. After doing much research, I actually took the opposite side that I originally planned on taking. There is much more than what is reported on the news about global warming, and it is almost a science and history lesson all in one!
1) Well one technique I used was just using the glossary of one of my sources. There was this book I read just for the heck of it last year so I knew what was where but when I forgot I just looked in the back. I didn't really like using the internet for it even though it was manditory. So I mostly unsed information from the book. I know it worked because I was pretty impressed with my own paper.
ReplyDelete2) I am not sure what I would do to improve my research writing process. I think I did fine.
3) I learned more about fast food and fast food addiction through writing this paper, i also learned about nutrition.
1.What skills or techniques (annotation, time-saving researching techniques, using researching tools such as databases or the Internet) helped you research your topic and/or write your paper? How do you know these skills or techniques helped your project be more successful? The researching tool that helped me the most was the internet. I know they helped because the internet research was the key to the paper.
ReplyDelete2.What would you like to improve about your process for writing a research paper? Would you revise anything about the process? I would improve my sources. I would work on the organization and thesis writing.
3.What did you learn about your topic as a result of this process? What did you learn about researching/writing as a part of completing this project? I learned how unfair profit sharing is in stadium construction. This was my first research paper so I learned a lot.
1. a time-saving technique i learned was instead of waiting until the night before to write the paper. I spread it out over the course of a few days. Made everything alot easier.
ReplyDelete2. If i can improve on anything it would be being able to get for information through research.
3. I didnt really much, and its better to write as soon as you find some information when it's still fresh in your mind, and you can go back and put it in order the way you want later.
1) I used the Internet as my main researching tool for this project. There is a ton of information on the internet that is useful and reliable, if you know how to search for it. Also, I have many friends that are interested on my topic and they guided me to useful information that I could use, such as a book I used as one of my resources. Once I found a source such as my book, I used the table of contents to find my points of focus quicker. These techniques help my project be more successful, because it allowed me to find useful information, as quick and simple as possible. It allowed me to not stress on finding information, and gave me time to focus on the information that was important.
ReplyDelete2) To improve my process for writing a research paper, I could always take more time and read more, so I can possibly find more information. Having many sources gives you much information to choose from to write the best possible paper. Also, I could prewrite more to get the topics of all my sources on paper, before I start the drafting.
3) I learned that there is a ton of information on the internet and in books that can really educate people on the cannabis plant as a whole. I learned the biomass qualities of the cannabis plant. Also, I learned the importance of finding quality sources, and how to find them.
What you taught about how to do research was a really big help to me. It helped me to better organize and write out my paper. You also hepled me out by showing me how to keep my thoughts straight about what I want to write about and that really helped me alot for my writing. The reason I chose this topic was because I like to write about nature and I had written about this topic before when I was in highschool and doing it this time was mostly just getting to know the subject a little bit better in what I should write.
ReplyDelete1. Annotating, using databases, and using the Internet have been the biggest helps with my research paper.
ReplyDelete2. The only thing I'd like to change about my process is not wasting time and doing to it at the last minute.
3. I learn that in the past almost all dictatorship were forn when the right to bear arms was taken away from their soceities. I also learn as a whole that when it comes to researching pre-writing makes a huge difference.
1)In my research paper alot of techniques from the class helped me organize my paperlike, prewiting, inside out drafting realizing paramedic method helped me look over and notice things in my paper. the internet was a main soruce for but i learned alot from t.v and the news my topic was so universal.
ReplyDelete2)i would revise alot in my paper after collecting the proper information its always difficult for me to put in my own words and to not repeat my self is one thing focus on.i need to learn how to stick with the sentence and paragraph rules with one idea and one topic not loosing my message.
3)i learned alot about the health reform the just got approved here in the u.s for everyone to have affordable healthcare the effects it has on america is amazing ang iwasn't interrested until now which is sad because its so important.the reseaching is not that easybbut there so many diffferent ways to do so and its important to compare your information.
-I put my notes from my database sits and websites onto notes in the group that they belonged to. then it was easier to write out my body paragraphs.
ReplyDelete-probably would had wanted to work more on editing part a bit more.
-Probably doing the other view of my paper, would been easier and gave me more to work with in the long run.
1.) I would have to say the technigue that helped me the most in writing my paper was internet research and databases. The internet is such a relieable source now a days its basically the only place you need to look for information.
ReplyDelete2.) What i mostly need to improve how i incorperate the Thesis statment into the paper. I have trouble coming up with a thesis statement that i can easily explain in my research paper.
3.)I learned alot about this topic. Getting many contrasting view points from people that are experts in their feild is very helpful when writing a research paper. I learned i must look at arguements from both sides more clearly and with less bias.
1) I thinked that the internet helped me to research my paper. There was lot of websties that i got information from to help me write my paper.
ReplyDelete2) I would like to imprve on how to come up with better details and also a thesis statement. Also where to out the details so that the paper makes sense to my audience.
3) I learned alot more about my topic. I learned of many difficult tradgies tha have happened when guns get in the wrong hands
1) Usiing the itnerent was easier but a little trickier. I found it easy to watch out for different “fake” websites by using the techniques to see if it was logic. I think it helped me with my paper because I’m using facts not opinions and the facts are true.
ReplyDelete2) To have it less difficult. You have to have the right question so it’s easier to get the paper done.
3) It was rather difficult
1. the internet was much easier because of my choice of topic i was able to find a lot of information on legitimate sources such as news websites like CNN.com and others
ReplyDelete2.for me, with my topic it was rather easy gathering information especially online but figuring out what my topic is so i can collect old newspaper articles that could be very helpful
3.i learned that a large majority of athletes that kids look up to are letting them down and are joining in activities that arent appropriate and have bad results following them causing the youth to follow them cause its "cool"
The techniques that helped me research my topic, and write my paper were using the internet, and the resourch section in the OCC, library. I could inprove more on my prewiting skills though, and I think that I did with the help of some things that I learned in class. This allowed me to not waste time reading books or articles that were of no use to me when I started to write my paper. I was able to utilize the library and all of it's resources, and the assistant's there were a lot of help too. I use the annotation and the database as one of my researching techniques. These were very helpful, and I learned a lot.
ReplyDeleteI think I did ok, and hope it's what my English teacher is looking for.
i used key words, phrases, and quotes to write my paper. i know it helped me because it was easier to write my essay. i would like to improve on finding information quicker and i would like to be able to write my essay quicker.i would revise my quotes. i learned that using specific words or phrases caqn help narrow your searching and find information quicker. it is easier to write in parts and think of one paragraph at a time.
ReplyDeleteUsing internet research databases was very helpful to me for this paper, because I wrote my paper on gambling I needed a lot of concrete reliable data to support my thesis. I used ABSCO and Eric and both had a lot of solid data that could be used and cited as reliable sources to meet the papers requirements.
ReplyDeleteI think I would like to work more on time saving techniques such as grouping details into categories it definitely helps me see how I can take each category or sub-category and build each up into compete paragraphs.
I learned quite a lot about both my topic (Gambling) and the writing process. I hadn’t really paid attention to how gambling addition of one person affect so many people and family members through the trickle down effect. I also learned that writing a paper can be less grueling if you take advantage of recommend techniques.
1. I had a very hard time finding resources for this paper. I relied heavily on my business book and other human resource books I found in the library. using the glossary and table of contents saved me time. Allowed me to not have to read all the book.
ReplyDelete2. I need to improve my researching skills. not having enough information really slowed my writing process down a lot. Perhaps picking a topic that has more information would help me with research papers to come.
3. Human resource managemtent is becoming a very important part of the business world. human capital is becoming more importatnt and at the same time decreasing in size. Having skills dealing with humans is a vital part of any workplace.
