One key point for inside-out drafting: don't try to write the first draft as if it will be a perfect paper. It won't. The sooner you accept that we are using a process for developing a strong paper that can't be perfected at this stage, the more free and effective your drafting stage will be, not to mention your stress and frustration levels will be minimal.
Now that you are in the process of drafting the paper (or, perhaps, finished with the first draft), please address the following in your response with specific examples/ideas:
- How did this method make your drafting of the paper easier or more effective?
- Did you struggle in any way using this method? How so?
- Now that you have used the method, what will you modify or change next time you use it?
1. This method help me out a lot by letting be able to have all the ideas that I want to add to my paper right in front of my face and in the order I would like it in. before I thought prewriting was a waste of my time but now I find it very helpful.
ReplyDelete2. At 1st I wasn’t really sure how to do it but then after the class lesson I quickly caught on and it became very simple after that.
3. I don’t think that I will change anything about the method because I am still very new with it and I think it worked very well for me just the way it is.
1. Drafting from the inside out made writing a paper not look so intimidating. I will have to practice this style a lot before I can completely grasp the method. However, I am so thankful for having this taught in class. I know I will be forever grateful I was introduced to this, when I have an 8-page paper to write, or even a 2-page paper.
ReplyDelete2. I did struggle with this just a little bit. I believe I struggled because I have to practice the method over and over again before I can completely understand it. I did not have a strong High school English foundation, so I am learning a lot through trial and error. I do not know exactly why I had a hard time with this. In class, it seems so simple; I think I mainly just have to work through this method repeatedly until it is stuck in my head for good.
3.I don’t know what I’ll change or add to this method yet. I do know I will be using this method from now on. I am sure, when I am more familiar from lots of repetition of the method, I will have ideas of ways to improve it to benefit my learning style.
For writing my paper the insides out drafting helped because it helped to create the introduction and to establish a rough idea on how I was going to have my paragraphs setup so that they made sense. It also seemed to make it happen more efficient with getting my ideas out on paper in a semi-coherent manner. I didn’t struggle with this paper any from using the inside out drafting any different than any other methods that I used for writing papers. As for changing this method I don’t know yet if I will even continue to use it. I think that I like the top down style better I am more familiar with it and I like it better. Also I have yet to run into any problems with running out of things to say while writing a paper so I would rather stick with what I have always done. But if I do try to use this strategy again there is a chance that I could grow to become more accustom to using it given time. So I don’t actually know what I would change or keep to the writing style.

3.I will originally start by using this method next time, I had started writing my paper a different way and wasted a lot of time.

ReplyDelete1.With using the "Inside out Drafting" compared to creating a outline I found it easier for me to come up with subjects for my body paragraphs. The use of sub categories causes me to have clear ideas. For example Im using the thesis statement "Although the narrator of Poe's "The Tell tale Heart" attempts to convince the reader of his sanity, his narration and actions show otherwise" so with each paragraph I can use the different examples of how he tries to convince us of his sanity as sub categories.
ReplyDelete2. I wouldn't say I struggled with this method I found it particular easy to follow it gives you a skeleton of the paper and all you have to do is fill it in.
3.I will confess I didn't believe in using any pre writing methods because i felt that they wasted my time and i was doing double the work. With the inside out method my idea's flowed easier and I spent less time scrambling for paragraph starters. With that said I don't feel like there is anyway to improve on this method
1.I found that the method made the drafting of my paper way easier than my previous technique of going in cold turkey and attempting to write a perfect paper. Having thrown out that notion and simply plugging in the facts with examples proved to be more effective.
ReplyDelete2.In no way shape or form did I struggle using this method. The only tough part was choosing my words to express my thoughts.
3.As I grow as a writer I may alter the method to fit my style, but I doubt it shall stray from the original model.
The inside-out method of writing a paper made writing less of a task and even more enjoyable. I've never thought of writing the body paragraphs first because I've always had the mindset that you have to have a solid introduction paragraph to branch off of, which I've found to be completely false. Having the specific details laid out in the body paragraphs prior having your introduction or even conclusion written, makes writing the beginning and end much easier AND more effective in my opinion. It made it easier because you already have everything you're going to be talking about and explaining in your paper right in front of you.
ReplyDeleteIn using this method, I've found that I don't have nearly as many troubles trying to construct my paper because I don't have to worry about trying to write an intro that will fit the body paragraphs. Also, if I decide to change an idea that I was previously going to write about I don't have to change my entire beginning or end to my paper.
In all honesty, I don't see anything I would have to change at all while using this writing method. It's easier, and more effective than what I was doing in the past so I don't see anything worth changing. Once I become a more experienced I might be able to see something in need of fixing, but I feel this method is pretty much perfect for me for the time being.
1.The method made drafting my paper easier because it was a lot more organized than other methods I have used.
ReplyDelete2. No I didn't struggle using this method. This method is easy to understand.
3. I don't think there is anything that I would change about this method right yet because it is so new to me.
1. Using the inside-out method in writing my papers made drafting the paper a whole lot easier and more effective. All my life I always started a paper by writing the introduction first, the body paragraphs next and then the conclusion. I never would have thought to write the body paragraphs first, it just seems unethical to me. As I started to do this I realized it really was a lot quicker and easier. I even came up with a lot more material than I normally would, using my old paper writing techniques.
ReplyDelete2. When using this new method I have not struggled at all in writing a paper. I quickly rounded up tons of important information and got right to writing the body paragraphs. This not only made things a lot less time consuming but took a lot of stress from me and I felt like my paper was a lot stronger.
3. Now that I have used this method I will not change how I write my papers. Using this method made me realize how easy and stress-free writing a paper should really be. Therefore from now on the inside-out method is my solution to writing a good paper.
1. This method made the whole process of writing drafts much more organized than i can sometimes write mine.
ReplyDelete2. I don't believe i struggled with this method at all, however i don't believe it is my best method. It does seem to work for certain types of papers though and it definitely helped me write the draft for this one.
3. Now that I've been exposed to a more efficient way to write essays i may choose this method often. Although, I'm not completely comfortable with it yet so I'm not sure if i would modify anything just yet.
1. This method was such a great idea! It helped organize my writing as well as making me less stressed on what I was going to say next. It actually makes writing that much more enjoyable.
ReplyDelete2. This method is not hard at all and I did not struggle at all. I would probably have to get used to using this method more. I believe this will help me get what I am trying to say out better.
3. From now on I am sold to the inside out method! Some how I feel like I have more creative freedom...
