One key point for Inside-out drafting: don't try to write the first draft as if it will be a perfect paper. It won't. The sooner you accept that we are using a process for developing a strong paper that can't be perfected at this stage, the more free and effective your drafting stage will be, not to mention your stress and frustration levels will be minimal.
Now that you are in the process of drafting the paper (or, perhaps, finished with the first draft), please address the following in your response with specific examples/ideas:
- Did your prewriting help you find ideas to start drafting?
- How did the Inside-out Method make your drafting of the paper easier or more effective?
- Did you struggle in any way using this method? How so?
- Now that you have used the method, what will you modify or change next time you use it?
1. My prewriting did help me find ideas to start drafting. Although I am struggling greatly trying to figure out how to actually take all the things I have wrote down and put them into a paper.2.The inside out method is the best way for me to prewrite because I work better when I can visualize things and seeing the bubbles helps me to remember what I have wrote. 3. I did struggle using this method but only because I am struggling with the actual writing part of my paper. 4. I am pretty sure that I will continue to use the inside out method the next time I need to write a paper and I hope to have a better understanding by then as well.
ReplyDelete1-my pre-writing helped my to pick a better topic because the one i orginally wanted to do, was not something I felt I could write a good paper on after a couple drafts.
ReplyDelete2_I dont think it made it easier for me at all, in fact it made me unorgainzed and I kind of freaked out because I had good ideas all over the place and doing that just made the thesis too confusing, I dont like this method much.
3_yes I struggled all the way through it and eventually just went back to my own style because then I didnt have five diffrent paragraphs that couldnt connect to each other, I had one soild paper...no offense P. Snow I just cant get into this style, its not for me, I need to be organized and start at the beginning and end at the end...
4_ I prolly wont use it next time...sorry, I can see how it makes others more creative and it can help other people to write better, but I dont know, I guess im too stuck in my own style to accept anything else, I know im one of those students that you cringe about having in class, but in order to write well, you have to put your own stamp on it right....my style is my stamp, that doesnt mean I wont give your methods a fair shot.
1) My pre-writing did help me out as far as finding a good topic to chose to start drafting. pre-writing really helps you chose different ways to start with writing your paper. 2) I too am an visual learner an also a hands on learner. So with the inside-out method it helped me out with thinking of the possiblitys of ways to start the essay or topic I would be chosing for the following paper. 3) Yes i did. Just because brainstorming helps me out dont meen that I start with the paragraphs first. I have to start from top to bottom. Yes the hole process of writing my ideas down in bubble form helps me out a lot but like i said i cant go from paragraph to paragraph. 4) I will use this method again, but in my own way. I will deffenatly start with the pre-writing but will not do the paragraphs first. By doing the paragraphs first I lose my train of though on my topic so i start to ramble on and on. Yes it is effected fully for some people but i guess i am also stuck on my own ways.
